David Young has just published a novella about Shakespeare’s writing of the late play, Pericles. It’s his most unorthodox piece of literary criticism and a narration that takes the reader through the play, watching over Shakespeare’s shoulder, in effect, as he decides to write it and makes a strange series of choices about what it will be like.
